Paris France in spring, fall and summer, and mostly in winter is a beautiful thing! We know it, and the French know it (that explains a little of the arrogance.) But in truth, there's so
much to see and do in Paris, a year is hardly enough time. Of course if you want to stay a year, Cheap Rooms has plenty of
cheap hotels in Paris. So get your skates on.
Getting flights to Paris is easy - plenty of airlines service
the city from most east coast international airports. There's a plethora of things to see and do in Paris and
Cheap Rooms makes it easy to get to the marvellous city of lights so you can concentrate on having the best vacation ever!
You want food? Paris has got food! Great food of every price point and all of it is made with pride. If you want to try a quick whirl around the best of Asia, head to the quartier chinois
(Chinatown, in the 13th) between Place d'Italie and Porte d'Ivry. This foodie paradise has all the
exotic cuisines of Asia, prepared with the freshest ingredients and has becaome a favorite stopping off point for young Paris.
Paris (or France) invented the idea of the
neighborhood bistro and the concept still goes strong off the tourist trails. Try Astier, in Oberkampf, and you won't be disappointed.
The tables are crammed in, the drinks are cold and the food delicious. The noise and bustle will convince you you're in the real Paris. You'll find it at 44 rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud, 11e,
Paris.
People-watching is a great Parisian pastime - everyone does it so you won't be alone! Start off in one of the cafes opposite the
Louvre - Le Fumoir for example - then move on to the terrace of Le Petit Fer à Cheval in the Marais where you'll find arty Paris
congregating, then head up to Montmartre to get some fresh air and a close up look at the typical tourist in Paris.
Is there a more sophisticated spot right now in Paris than
the Right Bank? No, and here's where to enjoy an evening drink with the crowds on their way out. The
Right Bank is traditionally the wealthier, more upmarket
siode of Paris and as such has more traditional, larger venues. It's architecturally interesting and is where most of the Paris attractions are. Try the vintage-style Chez Jeanette in
Strasbourg St-Denis.
Traditionally, French wine has had a heady international reputation. All other
wines are compared with it. If you're not that familiar with French styles, go wine tasting for your education and pleasure. The Baron Rouge at 1 rue Théophile Roussel, 12e, has a marvellous
selection and you'll also enjoy the little nibbles provided alongside the wine. It's terribly trendy so be prepared for milk crates and an outdoor setting.
Best restaurant in
town? The answer is different to the most expensive, happily! Hidden Kitchen is run by two Americans in Paris who host dinner parties
for 16 at their apartment opposite the Louvre. The idea is to try new and exciting recipes amongst a different group of people. The food is excellent and the real pleasure is in dining
with complete strangers from all around the world in a private dinner party setting.
Are you a shopper, a beach bum, a theme park fanatic or just a 'sit-by-the-pool-sippin'-martinis kind of holiday maker? The good news is Miami caters for everyone - male,
female, young and the old. And the really good news is ... if you want to stay a while Cheap Rooms has plenty of
cheap hotels in Miami.
Getting flights to Miami, Florida is easy - plenty of airlines service Miami
daily. There's plenty to see and do in Miami and Cheap Rooms makes it easy to
get to and stay there so that you can focus on shopping, sunshine and food!
Okay, first things first - Miami is famous for some of the coolest shopping on the planet.
This is the alpha shopping town and the choices are endless. Why don't you grab some style for home with a visit to the
Design District. You'll find the top designer names and acres of ideas in store after store. Soft furnishings, tap wear, kitchen ideas and more are all here. Leave the family
by the pool and venture for a style hit on your own!
Life is an adventure in Miami especially when you've made the hazardous journey from Cuba, so grab some of your own
taste of adventure with a visit to Little Havana. The food is the big draw card but there are sweet little boutiques, great bars
and good music everywhere. Just follow the smell of cigar smoke...
If you're looking for some light relief from the Ocean Drive scene hit
the Lincoln Road Mall. It's a renovated, sparkling example of what retro taste
can be like. You'll love the sidewalk coffee shops, the little bars, boutiques and foodie heaven restaurants. There's shopping, people-watching and art deco all rolled into one.
Miami has several 'must does' and just one is Joe's Stone Crab - this is the place that started the whole crab
phenomenon way back in 1913. Today it's famous for its Lime Pie. You'll need to get there early for a good table, but turnover is quick. Order anything with crab in it! It's a South
Beach institution.
Walk off the Lime Pie with a stroll through the art deco section of Ocean Drive. Starting in the
1970s, locals began realising what an asset the art deco period in Miami and today the latter end of Ocean Drive is an upmarket 'museum' that is justifiably proud of the look and feel
of old Miami. Walk the area on your own or take a guided tour.
Miami has attracted its fair share of super-rich eccentrics over the decades and one of those was Mr James
Deering who built himself a palace in the Italian Renaissance style. Today it's called the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and is
a popular wedding venue. You can do a tour and appreciate the quite incredible collection of European art Deering built up, as well as take in the amazing architecture. The vast home and
the sprawling gardens make for a lovely afternoon outing.
With so much to see in LA, you can bet the Grammies will focus the stars, their homes and their life in LA. If you're coming to LA, you can focus on the stars too - with 'Tours
of the Stars' Homes', trips to Gruman's Chinese Theater to see the stars (literally) and a run through Universal Studios. And the really good news is ... if you want to stay a
while Cheap Rooms has plenty of cheap hotels in Los Angeles.
Finding a hotel in Los Angeles is easy, and so is flights to Los Angeles. The key thing to remember is that public transport isn't so good in LA. Choose your hotel in Los Angeles
in relation to the majority of things to do in Los Angeles - the things special to you and the family. Once you're on the ground there's plenty to see and do in
Los Angeles and Cheap Rooms makes it easy to get to and stay there so
that you can focus on fun!
With Grammies week well and truly here, it's time to think stars! The Grammies have been a staple in LA since 1959 and were set up in recognition
of the contribution that music makes to all our lives. The actual trophy is in the shape of an old-fashioned gramophone and they're awarded for Album of the Year, Record of the Year,
Song of the Year, Best New Artist and more. This year, the awards are at the Staples Center in Los Angeles If you can't make
it this year... check out the stars on Hollywood Boulevard for your own up close and personal look-see!
The things to do in Los Angeles include the famous
J. Paul Getty museum, the best-funded museum in the world. This place is a special treat, even if you're not that keen on
art and ancient culture. The building is magnificent, set in sprawling grounds in a specially designed complex. The exhibitions are world-class and the museum is just a short drive
north of LA on the Pacific Coast Highway so it's easy to get to.
While you're in LA catch the circus! The Cirque du Soleil
IRIS show is up to their usual standards and this 21st century look at the circus
genre is as exciting today as it was when they first dreamt it up. It's a special look at the movies, ideal for LA!
You can't go past the Grammy museum on W Olympic Boulevard.
It's small, but fascinating - if you love music - with a ton of historical exhibits and information. The museum is in the LA
Live area and shows the gamut of popular taste - from heavy metal to Andrea Bocelli and back! It's interactive - so get your Idol game face on!
Fancy travelling a little further
afield to see something pretty cool? Griffith Park Observatory is newly renovated and fun for every space monster. It's in a
fantastic park location and the views back across the city are superb. You can hike off to various parts of the park or stay awhile and gen up on space and the related sciences. At night,
explore the stars.
While you're at the observatory, take a hike through Griffith Park. This sprawling park in the Santa
Monica Mountains is the second largest city park in California. There are walks, golf courses, the observatory, activity zones, open air theaters, basketball and tennis courts - everything
outdoorsy! Because of its proximity to many of the film studios, the park is also the setting for hundreds of movie and tv scenes - see if you can spot your favorites.
